Welcome to the website for More Than Redemption Church (MTRC): the Church that Loves Well!
MTRC is officially a mission church of the Presbytery of the Southwest of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
What that means for our church’s leadership and governance remains to be seen. But, if you desire to worship here, what you need to know is:
1) Our church grew out of the in-prison and aftercare ministry of HOPE Prison Ministries.
2) Within our congregation are men convicted of almost every crime imaginable (and some that Paul said were so shameful not even Gentiles would speak about them).
3) Some of our congregation is comprised of horrible sinners saved by a grace greater than the worst of their sin, committed to the Reformed Presbyterian faith.
4) Some are not Christian at all. They are there because attendance is mandated by HOPE Prison Ministries.
All this to say, when in doubt, call ahead. Ask questions. What this means to you is: this isn’t a church for the fainthearted!
Come as a humble, desperate sinner (Luke 18:13-14; 1 Timothy 1:15-17), looking for a place to learn how to live a Christ-centered life (2 Corinthians 5:14-15), you are welcome here!
Come desiring to learn how to love and to be loved by others different from you (1 Corinthians 5:1; Philippians 2:3-11), but who are now part of the family of God (Luke 7:37-50), you are welcome here! Our prayer is that we will learn to love each other well! (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)
This is what we want to be: a church where all are loved well.
If you decide to stay for the long haul, we generally see each other during the week at natural, unscheduled times: living life together, helping each other, ministering together. We are thankful to have our lives intertwined with those of other believers. Rather than trying to provide programs every night of the week, we give space in our schedule for family time, for the gregarious nature of God’s people!
